Never take our guns

about 232 years ago, some rebels, 25000 of which died, fought for a little idea called Revolution. This revolution occurred because King George was taxing the Colonists and not giving them a voice in parliament. This revolution was won with guns. Guns have become a thorn in our side over the years and we don't really see them for what they really are. They are the single most important physical thing we have. Guns were protected in the constitution because the founding fathers knew that a standing army was effective, but easily oppressive. The FFs just got done with a revolution and were leaving us the ability to fight one again if need be.

We can all say that we dont need guns anymore as we have police to protect ourselves but as Penn Jilette once said " What if its the police which you need protection against?" What would we do if in the future the government excersises the new abilities it gained in the early 2000's? We would be gun-less, in a war against the most powerful military ever. We would most certainly lose and for what? to comfort the rediculus fear that someone is going to shoot you in a street filled with good citizens who are also armed? Murder is a tiny fraction of the number of deaths in this country and if a killer really wanted to kill he could get a gun even if it were illigal. But now we take away our protection against those who would hurt us. Because the only people willing to obey the laws of giving up guns, are the very people who will be in a battle without a gun.

Remember we only have power when we will overthrow the government when it opressess. something which we arent doing as it gives it self the right to detain anyone and break ANY DAMN LAW AS IF IT WERE FREAKING MAGICAL!
